FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
Winston-Salem, NC: August 19, 2008: VG Innovations, LLC (VGI), a developer of innovative minimally invasive spinal implants and instrumentation for the surgical treatment of various indications of spinal disease, announced today that it has received CE mark approval to market the VerteLoc™ Minimally Invasive Spine Stabilization System in the European Union.
“We are ecstatic that the VerteLoc™ system has received CE mark approval,” said Dan Grayson, President and CEO of VGI. “This represents an important milestone in our efforts to expand the launch of our proprietary implant and instrumentation design in what is becoming one of the fastest growing segments of the spine market.” Grayson added, “The fact that our unique directionally guided instrumentation is a first in the next generation of spinal facet stabilization products to receive a CE mark makes this approval a springboard for our company in Europe.”
The VerteLoc™ system combines a unique patent pending implant which utilizes a rectangular shape and opposing stabilizers to limit motion in the facet joint, a multi-directional joint which has shown to be a major problem in the cascade of spinal column degeneration. The VerteLoc™ system will be on display in VGI’s booth (#1163) at the upcoming Congress of Neurological Surgeons meeting in Orlando, Florida in late September.
The VerteLoc™ system is designed to allow earlier intervention in the continuum of spinal care, thus should prolong or prevent more invasive spine procedures in indicated patients.
